We’re doing something a little different for our first meeting in May.  Join us on Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 PM to view the 2 hour-12 minute DVD entitled “THRIVE” (in rich BluRay video).  Then join us the next evening on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 PM for a discussion session about the DVD.  We’ll touch on all the major topics of the film.  Your questions and views are welcome!

Join us on Tuesday April 24, 2012 for our discussion group topic, “I AM  (Movie/Documentary)“ presented by Becky Backert.

“I AM,” a prismatic and probing exploration of our world, what’s wrong with it, and what we can do to make it better, represents Tom Shadyac’s first foray into non-fiction following a career as one of Hollywood’s leading comedy practitioners, with such successful titles as “Ace Ventura,” “Liar Liar,” and “Bruce Almighty” to his credit.  I AM recounts what happened to the filmmaker after a cycling accident left him incapacitated, possibly for good.  Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged a changed man.  Disillusioned with life on the A-list, he sold his house, moved to a mobile home community, and decided to start life anew.

Armed with nothing but his innate curiosity and a camera crew, Shadyac embarks upon a journey to discover how he as an individual, and we as a race, can improve the way we live.  Appearing on-screen as character, commentator, guide, and even, at times, guinea pig, Shadyac meets with a variety of thinkers and doers–remarkable men and women from the worlds of science, philosophy, and faith–including such luminaries as David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lynne McTaggart, Ray Anderson, John Francis, Coleman Barks, and Marc Ian Barasch.  An irrepressible Everyman who asks many questions but offers no easy answers, he takes the audience to places it has never been before, and presents even familiar phenomena in completely new and different ways.  (source)

Rory’s main thesis is that the Nature of Life is extremes, opposites, and the interplay between apparent differences for the benefit of sentient consciousness.

This shows up in quantum physics, atomic physics, and our daily interactions in human existence.  In the ups and downs of the human mind, magic happens. It is only useful in the sense that it is harnessed for power, vitality, creativity, and ultimately Enlightenment. Rory will focus on TRUTH, INTELLIGENCE, the parallels between “human problems” and failure to use The Power of Thought.

Through timeless wisdom of the ancients, to the New Age movement many of us believe or know that the mind functions off of thought. So what is thought?  A form of light.  What does that mean?  Where does it come from?  How is thought indestructible?  How is thought permeable?  What is the metaphysical nature of thought and how can we trace it into the physical?   How can we objectively observe the structure of thought?  How do we create thought?

Join us on Tuesday March 13, 2012 for our discussion group topic, “The Irresistible Force Meets The Immovable Object: Can Expanding Consciousness Be Suppressed?“, presented by Logan McCulloch.

Could consciousness be the primal creative force within our universe?  Does consciousness express through us?  Is the expansion of consciousness inevitable, or is it possible to halt this force?  Can the experience of living a lie be as enlightening as realizing a great truth?  Can one exist without the other?

Join Logan McCulloch and the adventurous seekers of the LES as we discuss these questions in relation to a variety of modern historical events and personal experiences.  We’ll examine these topics within the context of a multi-dimensional universe, where one experience could be producing effects on many levels of “reality”.  While not required, a reading (or re-reading) of the Hidden Hand material from Jim Patterson’s January 10^th presentation may prove beneficial.

All sincere seekers are welcome and there is no cost to attend (although, there is a suggested $5 donation).

Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions — motion, speech, self-awareness — shut down one by one.  She shares the spiritual insight she gained from the experience.  An astonishing story that adds more dimension to the first video we will watch.

We had a great time Tuesday November 22, 2011 for “Energy, Vibration & the Human Aura” – presented by Lisa McDowell!

All of Life is energy and vibrates at speeds or frequencies from very dense to highly evolved.  The energy that we are is a lot larger than we consciously acknowledge and this ‘field’ can be affected by the thoughts and emotions of ourselves and also others when we allow it!  We focused on what comprises our auric field, what information it shares with us about ourselves and others, and how we can internally affect it.  And….we conducted some fun exercises throughout the evening’s program with interesting results!

Lisa McDowell facilitates the energy of Oneness for all who are awakening to an awareness of their true nature and the higher knowledge that awaits their remembrance.  Lisa offers classes in “Evolving your Intuition”, “Consciously Creating Your Life Experiences”, ”Energy Healing”, “Self Transformation”, “Higher Awareness & Frequency” and “Being Your Path”.  She also works with healing through Reiki, the Oneness Blessing and Journey Within Readings.  With these offerings, Lisa is ever mindful that she is only sharing what she has found to be her ever-evolving truths and offers them to assist the seeker in discerning within themselves their own truth. We had a wonderful discussion on Tuesday November 8, 2011!   The topic was,“10 Powers of Dreaming” –presented by Rory Colgan.

Rory presented a film, created by the School of Metaphysics. The film illustrated 10 ways the Subconscious Mind functions.  At this juncture of evolution, as we open the door for intuitive, Spiritual Man, it is important that each one of us uses our inherent resources within our own mind for peace, prosperity, and security, and these 10 functions, like inventing, perceiving, exploration, expression, etc.  in that progression.  Dreaming remains one of the greatest intuitive resources our species has within its grasp, and as we call upon this capability, we will become more intuitive, and more like the influential people documented in the film.

Following the screening of the film, Rory, who is the Director IT of the  School of Metaphysics  in Louisville, led a discussion about dreams and dream interpretation. During that discussion several people shared some of their more fascinating or perplexing dreams. Rory shared his insight and training on dream interpretation but, stressed that the truest interpretation always comes from self reflection.  He also talked about the most common dreams, which coincided with Carl Jung’s research into archetypal dreams across all cultures.

On Tuesday October 25, 2011 we viewed two episodes of the “Through The Wormhole” – “Is There a Creator? ” and “ Is There Life After Death?” – presented by Janet Rowland.  The “Through The Wormhole” series originally aired on the Science Channel, and is narrated by Morgan Freeman.

“Is There a Creator?” –  It’s perhaps the biggest, most controversial mystery in the Cosmos. Did our Universe just come into being by random chance, or was it created by a God who nurtures and sustains all life? The latest science is showing that the four forces governing our Universe are phenomenally finely tuned, so finely that it has led many to the conclusion that someone, or something, must have calibrated them. While skeptics hold that these findings are neither conclusive nor evidence of a divine creator, some cutting edge physicists are already positing who God may be. Some of the answers are as compelling as they are disconcerting.

“Is There Life After Death?” –  Everyone has pondered the question that strikes at the core of our existence; Is there life after death? What happens to the soul after we die? People who have had near-death experiences claim to have visited the other side before getting yanked back into consciousness. Now some of the brightest minds in science are trying to understand how life can persist beyond the physical and what it might look like. It might be a quantum state based on the fundamental laws of the Universe. Ultimately, it is a journey that struggles to decode the most complicated instrument in the Universe: the human brain.

Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting:

A Deeper Dive Into Multi-Dimensional Reality  –  A Lecture by George Kavassilas

Thanks to Logan McCulloch for presenting a deeper dive into George Kavassilas’ model of multi-dimensional reality in our Universe.  On Sunday, October 2^nd we viewed a DVD of a complete lecture by George.  Also covered in the lecture was a larger narrative that included cosmological and Earth history, the nature of waveform light energy in universal experience and creation, current and future planetary changes, and a vision for the birthing of humanity as a race of sovereign, universal creators.  Traditional paradigms of the nature of reality were examined and challenged.

Another amazing turnout on Tuesday September 27, 2011 for our discussion group topic, “A Course in Miracles – An Introduction” – presented by Carmen Cameron! Carmen shared her personal story and  her passion as she  explained what  A Course In Miracles, (ACIM)  has meant in her life and in the lives of many others.

ACIM is an acknowledged spiritual classic, a completely consistent spiritual thought system that clarifies the individual’s relationship to God, to the body, and to the world and all its inhabitants. ACIM was channeled by Dr. Helen Schucman, and transcribed by Dr. William (Bill) Thetford.  Drs. Schucman and Thetford were both clinical psychologists at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, from 1965 to 1973.

Carmen Cameron has been teaching ACIM to groups of students for over 15 years now and has presented talks on the topic at two international conferences.  Her mission to help anyone who might be interested in learning more about the valuable lessons and insights offered in A Course in Miracles was so evident in her presentation.
