Join the Louisville Esoteric Society on Tuesday November 27, 2012 for our next meeting:  Manipulated History and Memes in the Mind Matrix” presented by Logan McCulloch.

Meme:  “an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.”[2]  A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena.  Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to selective pressures.

“History is written by the victors.”     Napoleon Bonaparte

What if?  What if over a long period of time, a few key facts of major historical events were consistently manipulated by the powers that be?  How would this affect our collective and individual experience and expression of reality?  For example, just suppose that Jesus’ message was:  I am a son (sun) of God as are each of you as my equals; as opposed to: I am the son of God come to save you.  How does that fundamental alteration potentially change one’s experience and expression of personal identity and collective reality?  Who edited and published the history of Jesus?

Join us for an “experimental theater” version of the Louisville Esoteric Society as the audience participates in imagining the possibilities of subtle and not so subtle manipulations of recorded history, the influence of prevalent societal memes, and their combined capacity to alter our perception and creation of both our personal and collective identities.  Imagine (image – in).

All sincere seekers are welcome.  A $5 donation is suggested.

November 13, 2012 – Is the Working Class Paradigm Working Against You?

Social Paradigm 1 Comment »

Join us on Tuesday November 13, 2012 for our next meeting:  Is the Working Class Paradigm Working Against You?” presented by Catie Wheatley

A presentation on the history of work ethic and what it means in our current political paradigm.  We will view a sample of presidential campaign ads of 2008 addressing the following questions:  How are the concepts of “work”, “worker”, “working class” and “hard-working” used by politicians?  Is this use exploitative?

We will close with an open group dialogue exploring the deeply embedded nature of the working class mythos in our cultural identity and the pros and cons of its prevalence given our current political and economic structures.  Does adherence to this identity affect individual well-being and power?

All sincere seekers are welcome.  A $5 donation is suggested.
