July 25, 2023 – The Grounded

Healing, Health, Science Comments Off on July 25, 2023 – The Grounded

Feet on the ground imageOur next Louisville Esoteric Society (LES) meeting will be held Tuesday July 25.  It will be located at one of our regular members’ homes. Seating will be limited and our long-term members are given priority for the available spots before they are allocated to others on our email subscribers list.

TOPIC:

The Grounded – presented by Anna Locke

In this session we’ll be revisiting the concept of Grounding – a healing technique that includes performing activities that “ground you” (electrically reconnect you to the ground). This practice draws on the science & physics of grounding to explain how electrical charges from the earth can have positive effects on your body.

We’ll be watching and discussing a video documentary that features an entire town in Alaska that was transformed with this new awareness. Edgar Mitchell is featured in this video and the conversation around our relationship to the earth is taken to some new levels. It even features a ‘heartbeat of the earth’ with an instrument that was never done before. Portions of the video seem to tie in with Bob Hartye’s presentation on subtle energy in May. The video is an hour and 4 minutes long. We’ll have discussion afterwards.

WHERE:

At an LES member’s home. Those who successfully RSVP will be given the address prior to the meeting.

WHEN:

Tuesday, July 25, 2023 – Meeting starts at 6:30 PM; Doors open at 5:45 PM
Arrive anytime on/after 5:45 PM for social engagement, adult beverages and light snacks.

October 26, 2016 – Naturopathy

Healing, Health Comments Off on October 26, 2016 – Naturopathy

Join us Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 6:30 PM for Naturopathy presented by Dr. Robert G. Churchman, N.D.

According to Wikipedia:

Naturopathic practice is based on a belief in the body’s ability to heal itself through a special vital energy or force guiding bodily processes internally. Diagnosis and treatment concern primarily alternative therapies and “natural” methods to promote the body’s natural ability to heal. Naturopaths focus on a holistic approach, often completely avoiding the use of surgery and drugs. Naturopaths aim to prevent illness through stress reduction and changes to diet and lifestyle, often rejecting the methods of evidence-based medicine.

Dr. Churchman will hopefully discuss some of the scientific and clinical evidence documenting the efficacy of natural approaches to healing as well as some of the specific modalities he incorporates into his practice.

April 8, 2015 – How Our Thoughts Undermine Our Health

Belief, Health, Psychology, Science, Thought Comments Off on April 8, 2015 – How Our Thoughts Undermine Our Health

Join us Wednesday April 8,  2015 at 6:30 PM for “Thinking Our Way to Sickness, Pain and Death: How Our Thoughts Undermine Our Health”
Presented by Professor Keith Lyle.

Many people view sickness, pain, and death as inevitable biological phenomena that occur quite independently of what we might think about them.  But psychological research challenges that notion and reveals surprising links between mind and health.  In this talk, Professor Lyle will describe those links and discuss the many ways our health might benefit from the proper mindset.

Keith received his PhD in Psychology from Yale University in 2005.  He’s currently an Associate Professor of Psychological and Brain Processes at the University of Louisville, where he teaches courses on Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Processes, and Human Memory. His research interests include memory enhancement and eyewitness memory.  He also studies personality, with an emphasis on authoritarianism and mental flexibility.

Keith joined LES back in 2011 for a fascinating presentation and discussion. At that time, he shared with us the results of some precognition experiments he had conducted at U of L’s psych lab, based on the experiments designed by Daryl J. Bem – Psychology Professor Emeritus at Cornell University. Professor Bem reported in late 2010 that his experiments had scientifically proven for the first time the existence of precognition. More recently Keith has become interested in studying the connection of how our thoughts directly impact our health,  and will share with us some of the conclusions being reached by both himself and other researchers in this field. He will also share some information on the  correct mindset that may benefit our health.

Please join LES as we welcome Professor Keith Lyle for another fascinating presentation and discussion.

January 28, 2014 – Journey Thru Lyme: Lyme Disease, The Appalachian Trail and One Man’s Search for Meaning Within the Matrix

Health, Social Paradigm, Spirituality Comments Off on January 28, 2014 – Journey Thru Lyme: Lyme Disease, The Appalachian Trail and One Man’s Search for Meaning Within the Matrix

Join the Louisville Esoteric Society on Tuesday January 28, 2014 at 6:30 PM for our next meeting:   Journey Thru Lyme:  Lyme Disease, The Appalachian Trail and One Man’s Search for Meaning Within the Matrix, presented by Logan McCulloch.

In Logan’s own words . . .

In the latter half of 2013 I walked almost 1,900 miles from Maine to North Carolina on the Appalachian Trail (AT).  I lived in the wilderness and walked all day, almost every day for five months.   My motivation to hike the AT included my desire to raise awareness of the fastest spreading infectious disease in the United States, if not the world.  My one most consistent and meaningful experience on the trail reinforced this knowing: by nature, the vast majority of people are kind, generous, compassionate and empathetic.  Yet contrasted against that recurring theme, this quote by John Lennon kept coming to my mind:

Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it’ – John Lennon

Over the previous two years, Lyme disease had knocked me to the ground…literally and figuratively.  In the years prior to my illness I had become well aware of what some now refer to as “The Matrix”, an interlocking system of mechanisms and structures of social control and manipulation.  But my personal experience with all the various aspects of this engineered epidemic called Lyme disease brought me face to face with what I believe John Lennon was trying to point out.

I left for the trail with the hope that I would find some insight, some greater meaning and purpose to my personal journey within the world I inhabit.  All my life I have yearned for answers to those grand eternal questions about life.   Given my personal experience of true human nature, one of my questions is this: Why is that nature not reflected in our greater shared societal reality?  During this talk I will do my best to illustrate both what I mean by “The Matrix”, and what answers, insights and gifts came to me during my journey.  I highly recommend watching the free internet documentary Thrive either before, or soon after my presentation.  It will help add scope, context and additional insights and research resources to my presentation.

February 26, 2013 – Medical Intuition: Learning the Language of your Body

Healing, Health, Human Energy Comments Off on February 26, 2013 – Medical Intuition: Learning the Language of your Body

Join the Louisville Esoteric Society on Tuesday February 26, 2013 at 6:30 PM for our next meeting topic:  Medical Intuition: Learning the Language of your Body” presented by Lorena Peter.

One interpretation of the physical symptoms of dis-ease is as a form of communication between the body and the other parts of us; mind and spirit.  Unfortunately in our society we learn to separate those aspects of our being, to ignore any connection, most especially any messages. Western medicine treats the body as though it were a machine-like entity operating separately.  In fact, it treats the body as though each part of it can be treated without affecting the other parts of the whole.

As a medical intuitive Lorena acts as an interpreter between the body and the mind of her clients.  She uses a psychic connection to tune into the physical to discover what organs or organ systems are affected.  Then, she asks the further question of what is the root cause of those problems and the way in which they might be healed.  The answer to this question helps guide the client to a complete healing.

In this presentation, Lorena will demonstrate what the client sees her do in a consultation, followed by a consideration of why.  To better understand the correlations between the human energy system and the physical body, refer to authors such as Caroline Myss (Anatomy of a Spirit) and Mona Lisa Schultz (Awakening Intuition).

All sincere seekers are welcome.  A $5 donation is suggested.
