June 13, 2018 – Finding Atlantis

Ancient Engineering, Ancient History, History Comments Off on June 13, 2018 – Finding Atlantis

Mark your calendars for next week! We’ve arranged for a new LES public presentation on Wednesday, June 13 at 6:30 PM:  “Finding Atlantis” presented by Lee Pennington.

Finding Atlantis

Lee Pennington, Author, Documentary Maker, President of Ancient Kentucke Historical Association, will speak to Louisville Esoteric Society on “Finding Atlantis.”

For the past several decades, Lee Pennington has been researching the lost continent of Atlantis. In the last half dozen years, he has focused his attention on looking in a different place from the Atlantic Ocean, where most think, if the legend has any validity at all, the island should be found.

In Plato’s time, however, there was no such thing as the Atlantic Ocean, so it stands to reason Plato, who in his “Dialogues” discussed Atlantis, could have been talking of someplace else when he referred to the continent being located beyond the Pillars of Hercules.

Pennington thinks he knows where Atlantis is located, as well as the lost land of Lemuria. He also thinks that a large monument rising into the Indonesian sky is somehow connected to both those lost places.

His presentation will perhaps not only convince you where Atlantis is but will also point out we have history all wrong—especially that part that says there were no civilizations beyond those we already know about and certainly none that reaches back beyond the ice age.

Gunung Padang, a great, man-made pyramid in Indonesia that’s in excess of 20,000 years old, should alone convince us history is wrong.

We’ve arranged for a new LES public presentation on Thursday, March 9 at 6:30 PM:  “King Arthur in America” presented by Lee Pennington.

Think you know all there is to know about King Arthur?

Well did you know that there were really two King Arthurs who lived 250 years apart and that scholars have mistakenly combined them into one individual?

Did you know that King Arthur II (of the Round Table fame) came to America in 573 with his brother, Prince Madoc, and that King Arthur was killed here (in Kentucky actually)?

Did you know that King Arthur’s body was mummified and was taken back Wales and the exact place of his burial is known?

This is not fiction! The evidence is compelling.

Don’t miss Lee Pennington, researcher, film maker, and poet, presenting “King Arthur in America.”

KING ARTHUR IN AMERICA

  • In 562 AD Britain was the site of a catastrophic event—most likely a comet striking the Island country. The land was devastated. The king at the time was none other than the legendary King Arthur.  King Arthur’s brother, Prince Madoc, was at the time the fleet admiral of a substantial Welsh navy. Madoc was at sea when the comet struck and was blown totally off course and was gone for 10 years.
  • England was mainly uninhabitable and Arthur took his people and army into Lydaw which is now Normandy. Records say that in 572 Arthur returned to Wales, and he and Madoc gathered 700 ships at Milford Haven and sailed west to Anwan, “that which is beyond.”
  • Having missed Ireland, there is only one place, sailing west, they could have gone—North America!  Other records tell of King Arthur being killed in Anwan and being brought back to Wales in a celebrated voyage described in a number of extant manuscripts
  • Lee Pennington will present compelling evidence that the Welsh records are totally correct in stating that Wales’ most famous king did indeed come to America and was killed here.

September 16, 2015 – Darwin’s Dilemma

Ancient History, Geology, History, Science Comments Off on September 16, 2015 – Darwin’s Dilemma

Join us Wednesday September 16,  2015 at 6:30 PM for “Darwin’s Dilemma presented by Jim Patterson.

The Cambrian explosion was one of the most spectacular events in the history of life. In a short window of geological time an abundance of new animals – and new animal body designs – arose fully formed without evidence of any evolutionary ancestors.

Charles Darwin viewed this as an inexplicable mystery. He had envisioned the evolution of life through a multitude of small, undirected steps. Yet, the fossil record reveals no such pattern of gradual development. Instead, early in the Cambrian period, compound eyes, articulated limbs, sophisticated sensory organs and skeletons burst into existence seemingly out of nowhere.

Darwin’s Dilemma explores the Cambrian explosion and the scientific controversy that still surrounds it. Where are the missing transitional forms that Darwin’s theory requires? Can any undirected evolutionary process explain the origin of animals?

Filmed on four continents, this fascinating 70-minute documentary examines some of the most important fossil discoveries ever made and with them, a mystery deeper than Darwin ever imagine. For the Cambrian explosion of life was actually an explosion of biological information – assembly instructions in DNA and embryonic blueprints that directed the development of the first complex animals.

Judge for yourself if the actual evidence truly points to evolution as we’re expected to accept as definitive scientific fact….or whether something more may be involved.  Jim will present additional discussion points and we’ll engage in a lively conversation afterwards.

All sincere seekers are welcome.  $10 for pay-as-you-go attendees; No charge for LES pre-pay Members.

Special Interest Group (SIG) – Tuesday September 2, 2014: COSMOS & Camaraderie

Ancient History, Conspiracy, Cosmology, Geology, History, Philosophy, Science Comments Off on Special Interest Group (SIG) – Tuesday September 2, 2014: COSMOS & Camaraderie

Tuesday, September 2nd @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

NOTE: This group does NOT replace our regularly scheduled 2nd and 4th Wednesday presentation meetings. For more information on SIGs, please check out the SIG link.

This SIG is FREE for all Pre-Paid LES Members! Others are invited to attend for $5 per meeting to help cover the cost of food and drink. All are welcome! (On the menu: Pasta salad with almonds and sun dried tomatoes, bread and butter, and cheesecake!)

In our third COSMOS SIG meeting we’ll learn about a tiny creature who has survived all the previous mass extinctions on Earth, and who outnumber humans a billion to one –  the tardigrades. We’ll also hear about a secret the plants know that science is still trying to understand.  Mastering that secret would totally eliminate the need for any other fuel to power the entire planet! We’ll hear about how the ancient Greek philosophers, Thales and Democritus, helped to change the worldview of  government, God and our place in the universe. We’ll also visit a very strange place deep underground, Super-Kamioka.

In the second episode we’ll learn about a conspiracy “…one of the first times that the authority of science was used  to cloak a threat to public health…”  This conspiracy threatened the well-being of both humans and other living creatures who share our planet. Behind the conspiracy were some unscrupulous and powerful people motivated by something other than the search for truth.  Some truths can be revealed only through years of painstaking research and data collection.  Less scrupulous people sometimes manipulate that data and spin it so that the end result represents something other than the truth.  The conspiracy failed thanks to an unwavering scientist, named Clair Patterson, and those who supported and encouraged his work.  Patterson waged a twenty-year fight against those misinterpretations – and, in this case truth prevailed!  We’re all victors in Patterson’s victory.

Because each episode stands on its own with different subject matter, it’s not necessary to see all the episodes to follow the series. But, each episode is packed with information and all episodes are beautifully done and entertaining, so attend all if you can.

Note:  The final three COSMOS SIG meetings will take place on Wed., October 1; Wed., October 15; and Wed., October 29 from 6:00 – 8:30 PM.

We’ll have a greeter at the front door till 6:05. After that, late entrants may call the phone number posted on the door for admittance. Hope to see you there!!

This SIG is FREE for all Pre-Paid LES Members! Others are invited to attend for $5 per meeting to help cover the cost of food and drink. All are welcome! (A variety of sandwiches – some vegetarian – and chips, lemon bars and sin bars are on the menu for the second meeting.)

In our second COSMOS SIG meeting we’ll view two more episodes and learn about a secret code embedded in light and sound waves. We’ll learn about the people, who discovered the code and the coincidences (or, were they?) which made those discoveries possible. Breaking those codes yielded some powerful knowledge about the universe.

We’ll also learn about Mo Tzu, a Chinese philosopher and teacher (470 – 391 BC) , who believed in and taught democratic principles-  and Ibn Alhazin (965 -1040AD), an Islamic polymath and philosopher, who laid the groundwork for the scientific method still used today.  One of my personal favorite quotes is from Ibn Alhazen…”Finding truth is difficult and the road to it is rough. As seekers of the truth you will be wise to withhold judgement and not simply put your trust in the writings of the ancients. You must question and critically examine those writings from every side. You must submit only to argument and experiment…and not to the sayings of any person. For every human being is vulnerable to all kinds of imperfection. As seekers of the truth we must also suspect and question…our own ideas as we perform our investigations…to avoid falling into prejudice or careless thinking. Follow this course and truth will be revealed to you.

“The cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be…” It’s been several decades since Carl Sagan spoke those insightful words in his groundbreaking series, COSMOS. Viewers of all ages learned about the mystery and beauty of the cosmos. We also learned about the people, many of them forgotten by history, on whose shoulders modern humanity stands – the  people  who made it possible for us to progress from the hunters and gatherers who stared with wonder at those magical lights in the night sky. Today, we  launch satellites and space telescopes to learn about the stars. We know more about the stars than our predecessors, but those magical lights in the night sky still fill us with wonder – and that wonder connects us to our distant past.

In this informal SIG we’ll journey thru time and space to watch the recent re-make of Dr. Sagan’s famous series, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson. The series includes the latest science and scientific theories about the cosmos and is filled with wonderful stories of the people, some of whom you’ve probably never heard, whose lives and work enabled humanity to take that giant leap towards the stars. The series is beautifully filmed with incredible special effects. It’s difficult to watch without feeling a deep connection to the cosmos, for as Dr. Sagan said “…we are all star stuffand on a journey to go back to our origin...”

Because each episode stands on its own with different subject matter, it’s not necessary to see all the episodes to follow the series. But, each episode is packed with information and all episodes are beautifully done and entertaining, so attend all if you can. The first meeting will be Tuesday, August 5th…the 2nd will be two weeks later, Aug. 19. There’ll be food and drink (water, coffee and soda will be provided – but, you’re welcome to bring other beverages). Please RSVP, using the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the page, so we can plan to have enough refreshments on hand.
